@Laura thanks so much for looking at Springpad. Once we provide offline access (next up in our roadmap); we'll turn our attention to the desktop...most likely later this year.

I've looked at Springpad and I'm very impressed. I particularly like the built-in lists. That was always a little awkward in Evernote. Are you planning a desktop app or will you stay in the browser? The desktop is just more suitable for some things.

@Tanya, thanks for taking a look at Springpad. We agree that offline access is key. Our iPhone app will be submitted to Apple in mid-February; to be followed by Android and Blackberry releases

@Jeff Janer, Looking at the site there is 1 big issue to me. Offline access. I travel freqently & occasionally in an area without data coverage. I can have important notes saved to my phone for Quick offline access. Also the notes reside on my computer itself.

Have you looked at Springpad (http://springpadit.com) as alternative to Evernote - especially for all things food: http://springpadit.com/foodies

Not only does it allow you to save, share and access recipes from anywhere - it also automatically parses the ingredients to create a shopping list and there are a number of useful apps - including a universal recipe box: http://sprng.me/3qie and a weekly meal planner: http://sprng.me/12n

(full disclosure - I'm a Springpad co-founder)
